WS/S (1) True Grit: A Culmination of Perseverance, Resilience, and Mindset (Part I)


Are you willing to take risks?  Are you determined to succeed?

Do you understand the importance of grit and establishing a growth mindset culture in the workplace?

As postulated by William James (Psychologist) which is now considered a myth, "We are making use of only a small part of our possible mental the world over possess amounts of resource which only exceptional individuals push to their extremes of use" (from The Energies of Men, 1907).  Although neuroscience has contradicted the latter, do we not really have room for improvement.

In this workshop, we will examine ways to develop grit as the culmination of perseverance, resilience and mindset.

Key Content and Learning Outcomes

    . what is grit and how does it compare to other similar facets of personality
    . empowerment - self-determination - eliminating self-doubt, all the latter which either can enhance or impede
our mental resources
    . emotional stability - self-regulation
    . cognitive appraisal - how to overcome your own self-limiting beliefs
    . optimism, as opposed to pessimism, as a function of grit
    . resilience, adaptability, and mental hardiness as facets of grit
    . going from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset in order to enhance achievement and increased effort
    .   recognize and validate character strengths
    . step out of your comfort zone to realize superordinate goals and develop new habits
    . elevate your competence by acknowledging your conflict style

This first part of the Workshop Series on Grit will administer and review the Big 5 Personality Profile, the Grit Scale, and a Mindset Checkup.  This will start you on the road to discovering your own true grit.  In combination with the latter, covering areas, such as resilience, mental hardiness, and perseverance will help you to recognize the merit of establishing a growth mindset culture in your workplace.
